The University Credit Society Ltd

About Unicredit

Established for over forty years, Unicredit was born out of the Chemistry Department at the University of Western Australia. Officially commencing operation in 1964 as ‘The University Staff Credit Union Society Limited’, many early members were the technical and administrative staff of the Chemistry Department.

The original rules restricted membership to permanent members of the staff at the University of Western Australia. Today, of course, we have an open membership, but an overwhelming majority of members still have some connection with the major Western Australian universities.

We remain an independent, traditional credit union based on the philosophy of mutuality and continue to provide a strong, secure and stable financial environment for members.

Service is our strength

At Unicredit, our overriding aim is to provide each of our members with a level of personalised service that other institutions would find very difficult to match.

And whilst we have successfully integrated today’s technology, we are proud to retain the traditional cooperative values upon which credit unions were established.

We thus endeavour to keep fees and charges as low as possible, whilst providing deposits and loan products that are fair, competitive and relevant to the needs of all our valued members. All Unicredit profits are, of course, reinvested back into the Society.

Products and services

Unicredit offers a full range of financial products and services, including savings, investment and loan accounts – from personal loans for any worthwhile purpose, including cars, computers, holidays or renovations, in addition to residential or investment home loans. We also offer insurance, travel, international currency and financial planning services.

And you can access your Unicredit accounts from virtually anywhere in the world with 24 hour access to our Uniteller online banking, telephone banking, EFT and ATM networks, plus additional access through the Bank@Post network at Australia Post outlets.

Mission Statement

The University Credit Society is an independent financial provider committed to assisting our members with their ever-changing financial needs by proactively providing equitable and quality financial products and services. This is achieved through the prudential management of the assets of the Society, the use of advanced technology and the provision of high quality personalised service.

Mutual Banking Code of Practice

Credit unions are committed to acting with members' interests at heart. As part of our ongoing commitment we meet high regulatory and self-regulatory standards and provide members with ways to raise concerns or complaints, should they arise.

The Code outlines our 10 key promises to you and ensures that all credit unions and mutual building societies will be fair and ethical when dealing with you.
